Though it’s not always necessary, I recommend you make use of a high poly to low poly setup. *Although I could have optomised the geometry more for this prop, I instead kept the supporting edge loops so that the model can be subdivided later if it’s required. If you would like to take things a step further and include a lot of detail in your model, you can make use of a high poly to low poly workflow. One way to add detail by using normal, bump maps or stamps in the texturing process like I did on this prop with the PH logo imprinted into the metal on the hammer. There are other ways to add detail to your prop other modeling it all in. Follow your blocking model to refine the shapes and geometry to match the idea or reference you were following.
